Hey Bikers!
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us here at the shop. Our sincerest apologies for not providing you all with any bike news since the Vermont Mountain Bike Festival. We’ve just been too busy riding our favorite trails and enjoying the heart of summer!
This past weekend Stowe played host to the annual Singlespeed USA Championship! The race changed location each year based on a friendly fun competition held after the actual race. Last year’s winner decided to bring the race to Stowe and we couldn’t be happier about it! Despite some concerns about an over abundance of riders that could potential harm our beloved and relatively delicate trail system, the event went off flawlessly and every participant was as respectful and enthusiastic towards the trails as anyone could have asked. We are thrilled that our little town can play such a big role in mountain biking and we hope to continue this growth in years to come!
I was able to sneak out of the shop for a couple hours and managed to capture some footage and coverage of the event. Check out the pictures, video, and make sure to comment if you see yourself! We had a blast playing host to a bunch of crazy singlespeeders, we all hope you come pay us another visit soon!
- The race saw a vibrant mix of World Cup XC racers, competitors in full costume, and everything in between. Here we see a subtle, yet awesome, unicorn.
- I also found ET, still trying to phone home apparently.
- Everyone getting ready!
- The man, the myth, the legend: Ron Murray!
- Ryan Thibault from MTBVT snaps some photos of a… fairy?
- …and look closely – part of the cast of Reno 911 decided to make the trip
- …there was even a banana! Incredible fact: Bananas are really fast singlespeed mountain bikers – it came through the half way point ripely in the top 10!
- Looks like he’s using the “stand” gear
- It was very interesting watching the different choices for gearing, some riders were really struggling up this climb!
- Check out the new parking lot for the Cady Hill Forest under construction! Perfect timing for this event.
- A colorful singlespeeder makes his way onto the new Cady Hill Forest climb
Thanks again to everyone who helped make this event so fun, especially all the riders!
See you on the trails!
